Do what thou wilt
shall be the whole of the law

Well, it wasn't a perfect selection of Zep sounds. I operated under the constraint that all of my materials had to fit into one canvas shoulder bag. In the process of editing available audio sources, several key sources were inadvertently left behind. So the recording from May 31st, 1973, commemoration John Bonham's 24th birthday as well as two of the three discs that make up the complete recording of another legendary Los Angeles Forum concert were unavailble to me. In addition, The second half of the evening found me fielding far more requests than I had ancipated. Not only this, but the owner of the venue seems to be "Presence" fan, where I had expected more an early days bias. At any rate, here's the list, and now that I think about it, there were plenty of requests in the first half too.

-----------------

Again, purists may qustion my use of scattered songs from various shows, rather than highlighting a few key shows in their entirety. I may question this decicision a bit too, as time passes. The use of "Achilles Last Stand" from the June twenty-first L.A. Forum show as opposed to possibly superior performances from other dates in the L.A. run will be another comment, I'm sure. Poor planning during the packing stage of the days' events led to only one source for achilles prior to 1979, with the other two being 1980 examples. This song was requested by the shop master, so I decided that an average 'Achilles' performance was better than none at all. The same is true for my use of the 6/21 acoustic set as opposed to, perhaps, 6/26 or 6/27. My baggage constraint and the fact that since this was a place of business that would be frequented by casual listeners not used to using their 'bootleg ears' led me to leave the final dates of the '77 LA run behind. One for sound quality and one for space. The use of over half the Munich show from March of 1973 as well as the rather thin recording of "Trampled Underfoot" from LA in 1975 were probably due more to the late (early?) hour more than anything else. I had superior alternatives in both cases. I wanted to highlight "The Rain Song" from Munich, but had not transcribed a setlist anywhere on the package or disc face, so out of laziness, I just played a large protion of the show. I eventually remembered that "The Rain Song" was the last song on the disc. The Winston Remaster of Essen would have been a better choice for most of the songs played from the Munich source. Overall, it was pretty relaxing and enjoyable time for the majority of the evening. At any rate, the shop owner seemed most pleased. I guess you can't ask for a better outcome from an event.

Several books with articles about Led Zeppelin were made available to customers as well as a number of famous and rare photo collections.

Thanks to everyone who came by to hang out and listen to Zeppelin. It was so much fun that I didn't even think about what I was playing. It was a good time. I hope to see you again.

Also, one misplay, but it's still a good song, even without a Zeppelin connection.
